What You'll Learn
Throughout the course you'll participate in classroom learning, confined water practice, and open water rescue scenarios designed to build confidence and real-world skills.
Training includes:
- Self-rescue techniques
- Recognizing and managing stress in yourself and other divers
- Emergency management and dive accident procedures
- Emergency equipment use
- Assisting tired and panicked divers
- Rescuing unresponsive divers at the surface and underwater
- Search patterns for missing divers
- Exiting injured divers from the water

By the end of the course, you'll be able to identify problems early, remain calm under pressure, and respond effectively in emergency situations.
Course Prerequisites
To enroll in the PADI Rescue Diver Course, you must:
- Be at least 12 years old
- Hold a PADI Adventure Diver certification (with the Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive) or a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another training organization)
- Have current CPR and First Aid training completed within the previous 24 months (Emergency First Response® training may be completed with the course)
